Tiktok is fairly new in the social media game but has gained tons of popularity lately. Nowadays, when we think of social media, many apps come to mind, and Tiktok is likely on that list. Usually, we use social networking sites to communicate with friends and family with whom we want to stay in close contact. Others use social networking sites to keep track of their favorite celebrities.
What is Tiktok?
We hear a lot about it in recent times. Kids, young adults, parents, just about everyone, is flocking to the platform to create videos and to connect with friends. But what is so interesting about Tiktok? What does it allow us to do? The answers to these questions are as familiar as TikTok is to most young adults. Here are some of the things that we can do with the application.
- We can create lip-sync, comedy, music, dance, and talent videos of 3-15 seconds long and shoot looping videos of up to 60 seconds long.
- We can connect with friends and create duets together to share with the world or just with our social circle.
- We can comment and like our favorite posts letting creators know that we like what they are doing.
While other social networking apps like Instagram have a large variety of content options, TikTok is mainly used for short video content. This is what draws so many people in as it’s so simple to use and really keeps your entertained.
Getting TikTok Famous
Many people have made a career out of becoming an Instagram influencer. Many of the top influencers earn a hefty paycheck for just posting content on their page. Why can’t the same be done on TikTok? It can, as TikTok has launched a $200 million dollar fund to pay content creators. The only caveat is that you need to have a pretty big following, and that can be hard to accomplish. Thankfully we’ve got a few key tips that you can follow to get you started.
Post Frequently
It might happen that your very first video goes viral, and you get a surge of followers, but that’s rare. Generally, it will take you a long time to establish yourself as a content creator on the platform. You’ll want to be posting content very regularly and track the progress to see what garners the best results. Once you’ve got a decent base, consider doing live streams.
Be Unique
With so many videos being published on TikTok every minute, it’s probably in your best interest to find “your thing”. Maybe you’re great at playing musical instruments or drawing. Try to showcase your talents and set yourself apart from everyone else. Being really niche is a good way to attract a strong responsive audience.
Create quality content
This one is a bit of a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people get this wrong. Always aim to create the best quality content. Nothing is worse than bad audio and video, and it’s a sure-fire way to lose followers. Make sure you take your videos where there’s very little outside noise and make sure the lighting is just right. You can watch or download Youtube videos tutorials on creating high-quality content. Also, consider using a tripod to get the perfect shot. You can buy them at most camera shops and shopping centers.
Do your research
Find other creators that are just like you and see what’s working for them. Oftentimes, you can draw from their creativity to give you new ideas for your own content. I recommend signing-out of the TikTok app when doing research because TikTok can bombard you with alerts, which might create a disturbance. Instead, I would visit the TikTok online viewer, a simple and unique website that allows you to browse trending hashtags, videos, search for people, and much more. It’s a web-based app that isn’t affiliated with TikTok but provides a nice and easy to use interface to find just what you’re looking for.
Check the trending section and see what’s popular on the platform. Take note of what hashtags are being used on the top videos and consider using some of them with your upcoming TikTok posts.
Engage with followers
The last and final tip is about engaging with the followers you have. Any time you have a comment on your posts, try and respond to them. Users love the idea that their comments are being read by content creators. This will make them come back time and time again as they’ll feel like they have a connection with you. If you’re running short on time, just giving the comment a simple like will suffice.
These are some tips that I found useful in my own social media experiments. Try to employ them, and I’m sure you’ll soon be on your way to TikTok stardom. Remember that fame doesn’t happen overnight. Just stay true to yourself, and you will succeed.
