Bitdefender Antivirus For Mac | Latest 2020 Version Review

I can find thousands of consumers that live with the misconception that Apple does not get affected by viruses and Malware. In 2015, Bogdan Botezatu (senior e-threat analyst at Bitdefender) explained that “Mac OS X software has more high-risk vulnerabilities than all versions of Windows put together.” Even though I don’t agree with Botezatu completely, Apple iMac or Apple MacOS in general are prone to get affected by viruses and malware, but I think that happens to a lesser extent when compared to Windows PCs.

Is Bitdefender Antivirus for MacOS worth it?

Bitdefender Antivirus for MacOS

Apple software is not something that can be compared to a third-party software company’s products. Mac OS X or MacOS is a powerful desktop-class environment that receives up-to-date security patches every single day of the week. Considering Apple security patches, I definitely feel safer without third-party security solutions.

However, I would consider third-party security solution such as Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac, if I am surfing the internet, making payments online, and accessing internet banking websites. The privacy invaders found several loopholes that can breach Apple security without consumers ever knowing about it.

The first attack took place in April 2012, when 600,000 Mac computers were infected by “Flashback Malware” that designed to steal personal information. The infected MacOS computers were providing personal information such as account details.

So yes, I do think an extra protection layer from Bitdefender does bring privacy invasion to an end.

Antivirus Features

I believe in the old saying “protection is better than a cure.

What do you get in the premium package offered by this online security company?

Bitdefender Antivirus Features

Let us explore the premium features for the absolute protection of an Apple iMac, MacBook or Hackintosh PC.

1. Blocks Threats

Do not skip this part because it is an important lesson that you need to learn about online security programs. Every security program claims to fight againstviruses, but they rarely tell you about Malware, Adware, and Ransomware.

In 2020 version, you get absolute protection against known threats. Real-time protection does not sleep, while the Mac PC is running & grinding with you.

It’s just one security program and it keeps all sorts of threats away from your PC, and you don’t have to purchase additional features to strengthenits security.

2. Anti-phishing

I visited hundreds of fake websites designed to fool & extract money from consumers. Of course, I did not check out the fake website on purpose, I landed on them because the scammer’s set-up a trap for me. I’m an IoT expert, and I’m not getting fooled by the scammers, but what about you?

Bitdefender added an anti-phishing inbuilt scanner that alerts & blocks websites that were especially set-up to defraud consumers. Readers should take note that this security software do not slow down the performance of the CPU while applying its security measures.

3. Time Machine Protection

The “Ransomware virus” broke the internet and Bitdefender created a protection layer for it. However, premium customers can back-up the files in the TMP (Time Machine Protection) that will hold the security of the files.

Even if you are scammed by privacy invaders and the entire computer is blocked by Ransomware, you don’t have to kneel down. Restore the computer using your back up files, and show the exit to the privacy invaders.

4. Performance & User-Interface

Apple iMac and MacBook are powerful machines, but they do need an optimized program to run smoothly. The 2020 edition comes withan optimized program and they do not stress the CPU and GPU.

Founded in 2001, and they collected plenty of feedback from the existing customer base and crafted interface. The advanced protection provides very good functions to eliminate online threats, but it is designed for regular people.

5. VPN + Traffic Light browser extension

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network designed to protect the identity of Internet consumer, and it will mask your original IP address and nobody can track you back. The premium customer can access VPN for free with 100+ locations, and it will unlock any blocked websites.

This company also introduced the “Traffic Light browser extension” designed to protect internet consumers from inappropriate content, fake websites, online shopping, online banking and more. The extension supports Chrome, Mozilla and Safari browser and it does not add an extra load on the Mac PC or browser itself.

Bottom Line

The premium version costs roughly $80 per year and the license unlocks one PC. Bitdefender offers huge discounts every month, and you can expect to get up to 50% off on the MacBook & iMac protection. Let us know what you think about this Antivirus for MacOS in the comment section below.
