Best Strategies to Become Productive at Work

Productivity is a quality work result. Without improving it the results will be lower than what you can actually achieve. It can be measured by how much you get by spending a certain amount of energy. When you are at the top level of your productivity, it is easier to work and results are achieved in a better way. With productivity, goals are hit and the rewards are greater than what you hoped for.

But productivity has many enemies. They can be extremely dangerous, and if you let them get close, they will tear your success apart. When it happens, you risk not getting the job done, missing all deadlines, or worse, giving up before starting something really important.

Everybody has 24 hours a day. On our shoulders lies the responsibility for how to conduct them and spend in the most effective way. If you find the right method to increase your productivity, you will be able to use these 24 hours to the fullest.

  1. Turn off your smartphone and other gadgets for the maximum time. When you’re working on something, whether it’s homework or a business plan, the ringing of the phone really gets in the way of concentration. Turn off the sound, or better, turn off your phone altogether. This will increase the chances of working continuously. Plus it will keep you away from Instagram and other distracting social media.
  2. Focus on one task. Multitasking reduces productivity by up to 40%. It is simply switching between several different tasks. It is impossible to keep two things in mind at once and switch between them in a second and without losing concentration. You need to take tasks in turn and learn how to prioritize.
  3. Start your day with the most unpleasant tasks. When boring work has to be done, we tend to postpone it for later: to the end of the day, to the next day, to the next week, etc. We keep on saying: “I’ll think about it tomorrow,” but this tomorrow does not come. Do the unpleasant job right after waking up, or within a couple of hours after it. This will at least prevent you from procrastinating during the day.
  4. Keep your physical and digital workspace clean and organized. For staying organized, it is crucial to have a clean workspace to find everything you need fast and don’t get distracted. For example, if you are using your email account frequently, you need to make sure you have a clean inbox. In case you want to simplify email management, you can use an email cleaner app like Clean Email to manage incoming emails automatically and make you more productive. No matter which mail service provider you are using, most of them have useful features to help you become an email guru.

Email is not the only way for effective communication. To save time, you can use a voice messenger like Echo to send audio messages instead of writing long letters. Imagine how much time you will save.

Use breaks to learn new things. When it comes to productivity and achieving goals, you need to learn. You can’t just take and achieve all goals without pumping yourself. If you don’t take a small step towards your goal every day, nothing will work out. Just try to think how you can use the time during your breaks. What did you do the last time you stood at a bus stop? What did you do in the queue for an appointment with the doctor while sitting in front of the office? What did you do on the way to work in the car?

In most cases, you probably spend time on social networks, check your emails, listen to music, or just look out the window. Start reading books and listening to podcasts during this dead time. If you are on the bus and you have 30 minutes to spare, don’t let them pass just like that. Read and get smarter. If you are driving, listen to audio.
