It is a statutory and autonomous body and was established on 1st January 1966 under Maharastra Secondary board Act 1965 and remains one of the most well known boards in India. But surprisingly, unlike other state boards, the headquarters of Maharastra board is located in Pune, and not in the capital Mumbai. It has two official languages, Hindi and Marathi. Students from about 3,581 schools and colleges appeared for their HSC examinations in 2017.

Section wise breakup of students last year will define trend

Over the last decade, the trends of Maharastra Board has been in line with previous year, with a marginal deviation, looking at numbers last year, around 13,37,114 students had given the Maharashtra Board Class 12th Exam in the year 2014, 4,50,176 were from the MAH HSC Science section, 4,66,723 belonged to the Arts section, 3,62,705 were from the Commerce section and 54,347 belonged to the vocational stream, so this year too, we expect it to be same in terms of percentage.

Getting good results is imperative to get into the finest commerce and arts colleges, which have a very high cut off marks i.e. over 90%, whereas for science students appearing for competitive exams like IIT-JEE, HSC results holds prominent weightage due to new changes in pattern that were incorporated by JEE board in the year 2013 which gives importance to board results too.
