One of the best ways to bond as a family is to go on an adventure by traveling together. I personally love traveling with my family. The idea of exploring new places and experiencing a new culture together will undoubtedly strengthen the bonds you have as a family.
Traveling helps deepen the family intimacy and helps us appreciate and value each other more because of our shared experiences. We try to maximize our travel experience as much as we can. If you want experiences that your family will remember and cherish for a long time, always try to grab the chance to travel. Do not wait for the “perfect opportunity,” be intentional instead.
Documenting Your Family Travels
In your travels and adventures, I strongly recommend that you document them. Do you know why photos are so important? Because they remind us of things, people and memories that are most dear to us. Someday when all of this becomes near-impossible to do again, you don’t want to regret that you never took photos to remind you of your most important moments.
Creating Time Lapse Videos
To make your digital albums much livelier and creative, one way to do it is through time lapse videos. It could be a time lapse for a specific year from January to December or it could be a time-lapse of one particular state or country. You can choose to create a time lapse video for every destination that you visit or anything else that interests you in your travels. Go crazy with it! There’s no rulebook with this. You could use it for your personal enjoyment or share it with your friends through social media.
A time lapse may be done by initially placing a smartphone or a camera in a stable, steady position, preferably using a tripod. A GoPro time lapse video is easy to create if you have a GoPro.
There are two ways you can create a time-lapse – through video or through still photos. In the case of a time lapse video, all you need is a camera with storage space large enough for hours of footage. It would then be sped up much faster when it is finally rendered by software programs. For still photos, it’s a little bit more complicated. You have to take one photo for every set interval of time (such as every five seconds or every minute) and continue doing so until you have enough images. You’d have to stitch them together to make a sequence which you can easily do using a software.
There are gears and equipment that can automatically capture a photo for every predetermined interval. A video versus photo time-lapse each have their pros and cons, so it’s up to you to decide between the two.
Making it a Family Activity
If you have kids who are already good with using the camera, they would probably find creating time lapse videos fun and interesting. Let everyone have their own take on your travels and soon, you’ll have several time lapse videos documenting your family adventures.
